UPDATE: Recall on Pre-Packaged Sandwiches
October 13, 2009
The following is an important update regarding the lot codes associated with the recall of pre-packaged sandwiches from Fisher-Rex Sandwich Co., Raleigh, NC:

An error was made with the press release.

The lot codes subject to recall are SEVEN (7) digit lot codes.  All lot codes begin with 01juliandate09.  For example:  0125509

Products without a lot number are subject to recall.

Products with a five (5) digit lot code are not subject to recall.

Products may have two different numbers: a lot code and a best sell by date on the price sticker.  The lot code should be used to determine if the product is subject to recall.
October 12, 2009
Fisher-Rex Sandwich Co. is voluntarily recalling some of its pre-packaged sandwiches after tests by the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services confirmed the presence of Listeria monocytogenes in product samples. The recalled products were distributed to convenience stores, gas stations and other retail stores in North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
Please ensure that these products are removed from your licensed facilities immediately.
The products subject to recall will be identified by a six-digit product code that begins with 01. Products with a five-digit product code are not subject to the recall.
