1915 (i) to replace PCS services on 1/1/2013

CMS has been telling NC for more than seven years that it is out of compliance with federal laws regarding ACH/PCS payments.  In February, CMS notified the State that all payments for Personal Care Services (PCS) would stop on April 30, 2012. On April 4, 2012, CMS notified NC that the PCS deadline had been extended until December 31, 2012.  In addition, CMS approved the (i) Option application on that date.

Attached is the latest version of the 1915 (i) option application that was sent to CMS on April 30th.  The document entitled “NC SPA” is the Corrective Action Plan that the State has negotiated with CMS.

New: Letter from Alice Watkins, Executive Director of Alzheimers North Carolina, to President Obama regarding the impact of CMS' HCBS Standards and proposed action to remedy the immediate crisis.

Together, we will continue to keep the issues of the assisted living industry in front of the decision-makers. We won the first victory by getting CMS to extend PCS until December 2012, however, much more work needs to be done. We will be asking for your help and support throughout this process. Sincerely, NCALTCF and Friends of Adult Care.
